China launches manned Shenzhou-10 craft to experimental space station.

  1. Some interesting notes to note if you're not into rockets:

At the 1:12 mark they jettison the crew abort system. I'm guessing they're around 1:20+ into the launch and they're either getting ready to pass through or have just passed through MaxQ. Which makes sense. At that point in the flight if something goes wrong the system wouldn't be able to help them. They're either going to space or they're going to die.

At the 1:30 mark they're jettison the secondary boosters. I haven't looked up the rocket, but i'm guessing they're probably solid rockets. The kit looks like a massive rip off of the Atlas Heavy lift so that's not a surprise. The flames are from the explosive bolts that fire off and literally blow the boosters from the rocket in a very pretty heart shaped pattern.

At about the 1:40 mark you can see the main booster coming down. Nothing special here.

Overall I'm actually quite impressed. The whole launch was very smooth. The rocket showed no signs of failure or instability. It went straight up, leaned over, and went to space as designed. American rocketeers should be proud. Their stolen plans in the hands of Chinese have produced a very nice rocket.
